John Firminger Duthie (1845-1922)

John Firminger Duthie (*12. máj 1845 - †23. február 1922) - anglický botanik a cestovateľ (planthunter). Autorskú skratku má „Duthie“.

V rokoch 1875-1903 pôsobil ako riaditeľ Botanickej záhrady v Saharanpure, venoval sa najmä ekonomickej botanike s dôrazom na čeľaď Poaceae. Intenzívne botanizoval v oblastiach Indie a Himalájí.

Je autorom príspevkov „Botanical excursions in the neighbourhood of the Baths of Lucca during the summer of 1873“ z roku 1876, ďalej „List of north-west Indian plants“ a „Field and garden crops of the North-western Provinces and Oudh“ z roku 1882, „Illustrations of the indigenous fodder grasses of the plains of north-western India“ z roku 1886, „A rough list of Indian fodder-yielding trees, shrubs, and herbs“ z roku 1889, „Report on a botanical tour in Kashmir“ z roku 1892, „The orchids of the north-western Himalaya“, „Descriptions of some new species of orchideae from North-West and Central India“ z roku 1876 a monografií „The Fodder Grasses of Northern India“ z roku 1888, „Report on a botanical tour in Merwára (Rájputána) made in January 1886“ a „Flora of the Upper Gangetic Plain, and of the Adjacent Siwalik and Sub-Himalayan Tracts“ (v spolupráci Josephom Fullerom) z roku 1915, a napokon v spolupráci s Richardom Stracheyom „Catalogue Of The Plants Of Kumaon And Of The Adjacent Portions Garhwal And Tibet“ z roku 1918. Po smrti mu vyšla práca „A second century of new and rare Indian plants“ (1971).

Na jeho počesť boli nazvané rody Duthiea Hack. (Poaceae) a Duthiea Speta (Hyacinthaceae). V Arboréte Mlyňany SAV raste z drevín ktoré zaradil druh Spiraea wilsonii Duthie.
